Vintage Ave and decompressing update.

Ave, circa 1985

Thought my readers (all three of you) might get a kick out of this blast from the past. Dig how I’m wearing a jumper with nothing under it?! That’s right, half of my torso was exposed. What can I say–I was a saucy kid. My hair is not this blond anymore.

I’m happy to report that I’m making progress on my resolutions for easing the overwhelmedness. Successes: declined an offer to participate in (yet another) local craft market this coming Saturday, and I could not be more excited about having a real weekend (fingers crossed that I get some jewelry supplies in the mail by then). Lunch breaks taken this week: two (one at the library). And today I’m teaching a coworker how to crochet on our lunch break. I’ve also spent at least a few minutes reading every day this week. All small steps, but they’re making a difference. Oh, and I’m getting an actual haircut at an actual salon next week! (I got a coupon.) I haven’t had my hair cut by anyone other than myself in about 6 years, but I’ve been in quite a hair funk lately, so it seems like a good time to call in reinforcements. Stay tuned to this space next Thursday for pictures of either my new fabulous ‘do or my new fabulous paper bag. Anything could happen.

Good job! It looks like you are making progress in the “taking it easy” department.
I’ve had HUGE success myself. The birth of my niece really was a catalyst. Well not a catalyst, because catalyst speed things up, and her arrival has slowed things down.
Since last Wednesday, I have taken at least 3 evenings off from ALL projects. I have coerced my beloved (why is there not a word that means “husband” for the unmarried to use?!?) into going for 2 very long walks. I have learned how to use the SLR camera - no more point and shoot promo shots for MY etsy store. I have held a baby in my arms for many minutes - not all in a row.
At the same time, I have been incredibly productive as well.
Why is it that when I try to cram as many “working hours” as possible into a week, I get less done than when I focus on creating blocks of free time? Interesting paradox.

Thanks, Erin! Interesting paradox, indeed. Maybe we creative minds require unstructured time to actually be creative–maybe strict schedules tend to squash the creativity? Hm. I dunno. Something to ponder. In my free time, of course.

Ah. Love this picture. My…you really were one saucy kid (probably still are, huh?).

Wow. You really made some changes. What a doer you are! I’m more of a wisher and not so much a doer. Hm…but maybe that should change.

Getting a haircut is a lot of fun. I don’t go 6 years without the hair experts. Just 1 year for me. I’m probably not as talented as you are, but I cut my hair too. Since it’s dark and wavyish, no one could really tell if it’s a disaster or not. Pretty great.

Can’t wait to see the cut.

Wavyish hair has been on my wishlist for years. Mine is straight-as-an-arrow, which is not so forgiving.

Adorable photo and love the saucy factor. I think we were basically in the same gear through the summers up to a certain age.
